'HANDS ON' ALBUM ART, CLOTHING BY DOO DOO BRAND

Big Slide Records

Big Slide Records is a Seattle based independent record label, online music publication, and Spotify playlist curator.

Big Slide Records (BSR) sets itself apart from the rest of the industry as a platform for 'Emotional Dance Music.' Working closely with the label and individual artists, CDD designed album covers, event artwork, as well as social media assets to promote the brand and its music.

BSR Identity

Playful x Edgy

A combination of illustration, photography, and overlaid textures is what defines the Big Slide Records identity as playful, yet edgy.

For event artwork, CDD designed social assets including Facebook and Twitter banners as well as Instagram and Facebook posts that utilize the design across media.

BSR Collaborations

Combining Design Aesthetics

Big Slide Records has been revolutionary in making a name for itself in Seattle. Not only does it boast a roster of supreme talent, but it has expanded its vision outside of its own niche by collaborating with other labels to host events and showcase upcoming talent.

Most recently, Big Slide and LuckyMe came together on an event with headliners Clara La San & SuicideYear, supported by acts from Big Slide. Big Slide's ability to stay authentic and connect to it's local roots through other events such as 'Friendsy' while rubbing shoulders with giant players will continue to make BSR the success that it has become.

The design problem for events such as these is to figure out how to best combine aesthetics. For example, BSR's visual identity combines pattern, texture, and clean minimal layouts. On the other hand, LuckyMe's aesthetic is more experimental and bold. For the poster for the two labels' collaboration, I aimed to distill elements from both brands.

POSTER DESIGN

An earlier vignette of the poster design for the LuckyMe & BigSlide event. CDD aimed to combine the aesthetic of LuckyMe, characterized as bold, experimental, and expressive with BSR's which has been clean & pattern-driven.

Incorporating photos from the artists' Instagram pages since they were more compelling than studio shots, CDD edited them to get a consistent background and color.
